PETE ALEXANDROU

Co-Owner, 3rd Side Basketball Academy Associate Head Coach, CAI Post Grad
Coach Pete was raised in Clearwater Florida where he attended Countryside High School and started on their varsity basketball team for 3 years.
After a successful high school career, Pete earned a scholarship to Florida College, an NAIA school in Tampa, Florida. During his college career Pete was a 3 time All-American, helped lead his team to the national tournament all 4 years, and upon graduation in 2011, finished as the school’s 2nd all time leading scorer.
Over the past 10 years he has served as head coach/assistant coach, winning multiple district and north Pinellas County Conference titles and developed numerous players into All-County selections from 3 different schools along the way.
In 2019 Pete accepted the position of Head Coach at Clearwater Academy International. In year one, the team earned a 21-7 record against one of the states toughest schedules, and helped get all five Post Grad players a college scholarship after the season. Then assisted in procuring a preferred walk-on invitation to a top 20 college team in America for a high school senior.

Alongside his coaching duties, Coach Pete also serves as the Athletic Director at Clearwater Academy International, and assists David Thorpe at the Pro Training Center, working with his professional players. “I am passionate about helping young men grow on and off the court in pursuit of a college education while getting to play the game they love.”

Coach Franzen has been involved in basketball coaching in the Tampa area for over 20 years at the high school level. He worked as an assistant coach for some very successful coaches in Randall Leath & Tom Shaneyfelt. While also helping building a program as a head coach that had lost 42 games in a row & within four years lead that program to the state tournament (for the first time in over 10 years) & a berth into the “Sweet Sixteen” which was the first since 1967.

During his time as a high school coach he had a major hand in sending over 40 players to college at various levels. He has also been involved in helping training various college & professional players while working for David Thorpe and the Pro Training Center. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Economics & has a wife & three children.
